Nicolas Ouellet

I try to understand our way of life and draw parallels with those of the people who came before us. Why are we still using ceramics in the kitchen if there are almost unbreakable metal or plastic materials? It was after a trip I made in Mexico that I could better answer this question. For them, there is a significant difference in flavor, which is directly related to ceramics, Your grandmother's braised lamb recipe does not have the same taste in a metal pot. I think the reason is just as valid in Quebec. No matter where we come from, the memories of food are always present and comforting. I create my pieces starting from this idea of ownership while ensuring to be my time.

Although I consider ceramics as an art in itself, I do not want to create decorative objects too, because it would distort the nature of the utilitarian object. I want to create pieces that make our lives easier yet elegant in their design. Although I have a deep passion for traditional methods, I want to know modern techniques - such as decals - to update these products that we hold so dear.
